Bolton-le-Sands Community Centre

Installation of Solar Panels at the Community Centre

The management team at the Community Centre have been awarded a substantial grant by Lancashire Environment Fund to install photovoltaic panels as part of the re-roofing
project in August.

The centre, built in 1976, is currently having the roof retiled. Alongside this work, solar
panels will be integrated and installed by ECOPAC who will also install a high capacity
battery and associated switchgear that will enable the building to generate a substantial
amount of “green” electricity and help to control the spiralling cost of electricity.

The centre will continue to be used, albeit at a reduced level, whilst the work is undertaken. Hirers and visitors are asked to bear with us whilst the work is completed. We hope to switch on the system in September.

Prior to the Covid pandemic, the centre hosted over 671 sessions a year comprising of 1658 hours use by 25183 visitors a year. This work will maintain the building fit for our community through the 21st century
